Applications of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence has been used in a wide range of fields including medical diagnosis, stock trading, robotcontrol, law, remote sensing, scientific discovery and toys. However many AI applications are not perceived as AI. This is because "A lot of cutting edge AI has filtered into general applications often without being called AI because once somethingbecomes useful enough and common enough it's not labeled asAI anymore," Nick Bostrom reports. "Many thousands of AI applications are deeply embedded in the infrastructure of every industry." In the late 90s and early 21st century the AI technology became widely used as elements of larger systems but the field is rarely credited for these successes. For example: game playing, autonomous control, language understanding and problem solving, business intelligence, medical diagnosis, scientific analysis, weather forecasting, finance, hospitals and medicines, heavy industries, online and telephone customer service, transportation, telecommunication, toys and games, music, aviation and news, publishing and writing.

Applications of Artificial Intelligence

Applications of Artificial Intelligence:

As known to all the artificial intelligence has been used in a wide range of fields such as medical diagnosis, stock trade, robot controlling, law, remote sensing, scientific discovery and toys. However many AI applications are not perceived as AI. This is because "A lot of cutting edge AI has filtered into general applications often without being called as AI because if something once becomes useful enough and common enough it's not labeled as AI anymore", Nick Bostrom reports. There are thousands of AI applications that are deeply embedded in the infrastructure of almost every industry. In the late 90s and early 21st century, the AI technology became widely used as the elements of larger systems but the field rarely received credits for this success.
Some of the examples for the applications of artificial intelligence are presented below:

  • Game playing: IBM's Deep Blue became the first computer program to defeat the world's champion in a chess match when it bested Garry Kasparov by a score of 3.5 to 2.5 in an exhibition match in 1997.

  • Autonomous control: The system named Alvin computer vision was trained to steer a car to keep it following a lane. It was placed in CMU's NavLab computer-controlled minivan as well as used to navigate across the United States. For almost 2850 miles, it was in control by steering the vehicle for about 98% of the time however a human took over the other 2% mostly at the exit ramps. NavLab has video cameras that transmit the road images to Alvin which computes the best direction to steer based on experience from previous training runs.
