Moments

In statistics, moments can be used to measure the central tendency of a set of observations, their scatter (dispersion), their asymmetry and peakedness of hte curve.

Moments about the Mean (Central moments)

The moments about the mean are denoted by μ (read as mu). The r^th moment of a variable X about the mean $/bar{X}$ is defined by $$μ_r = dfrac{1}{N} ∑f(X-/barX)^r$$
