Religion

Religion is universal, permanent, pervasive and perennial interest of the man. Here the biblical saying is more mentionable than the man cannot leave by the bread only. Religion is not the phenomenon of the recent origin and its beginning is unknown and dateless.  Religious  system are society's important system of the religious practices which are standardized and formulated where as the religious associations are the organized group of the people who share the beliefs and follow the practices of the religion.

" A religion is a unified system of beliefs and practices relative to the scared things that are to say things set apart and forbidden beliefs and the practices that unite into the one single moral community called the church, all those who adhere to them."

Because the religion exists in some form in all of the societies, it is of the great interest to the sociologists. Sociologists study the religion within the framework of the social construction of the reality that is they treat the religion as the social institutions created by the human beings. In so doing they do not try to judge the truth or the validity of any religion. Rather they maintain that, whatever the source of the religious beliefs, the form and the roles that the religion assumes within the society are determined by the human action. Thus religion can be explained for the sociological perspectives.

In the area of the religion as in the most areas functionalists and the conflict school spouses have different views.

A Functionalist Analysis of the religion

Functionalist analysis assumes that the society tends to be stable and integrated system and they argue that the interrelated part of the system maintain the stability of the society by teaching and reinforcing the same set of the basic values. Sociologists tend to agree on the six basics function of the religion that is inextricably linked: social solidarity, meaning, social control, identity, psychological support and the social change.

Dysfunctions of the religions

Functionalists recognize that the social arrangements that are basically useful also generate problems for the society; that is they may also have the dysfunctions. There have been marked by the heightened conflicts between the followers of the tradition, fundamentalists religious group and those who follow the more liberal religion or no religion at all. Issues of the abortion, censorship vs freedom of the expression and the governmental family policy have been lightning rods for increased conflicts in these groups.

A conflict analysis of religion

Conflict theorists view the religion as they do other social institutions as the mechanism that allows an elite minority to dominate a relatively powerless majority. The dominant religions of the society are the ruling class, who formulated and maintained beliefs that justified the inequalities of the social orders. Rooted in the beliefs about the eternal rewards and the punishments this forms of the social control was extremely effective. Religion refers to the specific fundamental set of beliefs and the practice generally agreed upon by the no of the people.It is closely associated with the morality and has intricate rules of conduct.

6.Religion is the agent of the socialization and the social change. It helps in preserving social norms and provides strength for social control.

Social institution is organized systems of the social relationship which represents certain idea and goals which represent certain basic needs of the society. Some of the social institutions are family, kinship, religion, political, education and economic system. Business process, such as the production and management requires the human manpower and there should be mutual understanding and feeling of kinship. For the development of the business sector there should be skilled manpower and there should be the proper utilization of the human resources which is possible only through the proper education which is one of the social institutions. Political system also affects the business administration as the stable political system in country uplift the business sustainability. The production and distribution of the goods and services and the economy are generally the institutions that act of task, but this may also include family especially in societies where production takes place in the household. Society plays important roles in the development of the personality of the members of the society and the business groups. Social institution provides labor union and helps in development of the country. It provides the educational background needed for managers to understand their employees and customers. Business leaders that understand social institution are able to anticipate customer needs and respond to employee problems in ways others cannot.
