Intake or rapport building

Types of diagnosis
Clinical

Etiological
- Tries to delineate the causes and development of presenting difficulty
- History of the person

Dynamic
- Proper evolution of the client’s current problem as he is expressing it now
- Role of psychological, biological, social and environmental factors in the causation of the problem
- Caseworker and client engaged in appropriate corrective action or treatment
- Case worker should make tentative assessment for the client which related to today normal living situation
- The client also needs to be ready to consider possible adjustment of change in the client immediate physical and social world
Intervention or treatment
Treatment is the sum total of all activity is a service directed towards helping and individual with a problem. The focus is relieving of the immediate problem and if feasible, modifies and basic difficulties which precipitated it. The case work treatment is having different step and techniques. Treatment is the main content of a social case work. The treatment plan is different in different case worker according to the client problematic situation. But every social case work is done through same methods.
Some techniques in social case work:
Support- giving full support to the client to improve his/her weak personality.
- Good and strong relationship
- Client personality will be respected and treated as normal human beings
Clarification- case worker finds out the client personality, family background, history and etc.
- These will help to case enough information about the client and its problem
The insight-actual cause of client’s problem.
- His/her surrounding helps to find it out
- It also helps to improve the confidence
- Client strength and weakness
- Help the client to get rid of his/her problems
- Treatment also will be planned according to clients ability and can make further plans as well
Resource utilization
We can use all the available resource according to the case such as yoga and other meditation techniques for the important of the client.
- Try to find out some job for the client if s/he is unemployed
Evaluation
After the completion of the above techniques case worker should evaluate his/her work with the client for that case worker need to record his/her work.
- If the case worker is not satisfied with his/her work then he can make a further correction.
- Each and every step needs to be evaluated.
- Evaluation helps in evaluation of client's case.
- Better evaluation will help case worker to not upset the same mistake in the future.
Environmental modification
Everything the case worker might have a deal with the client secret fully but very often these are changed that problem might arise again. So case worker needs to make the clients’ environment sustainable for personal growth. Such as sometimes which are not accepted well even though there are recorded so this kind of situation improves the problem again.

Monitoring and evaluation
Monitoring provides crucial feedback to caseworker and the client regarding:

Importance of monitoring and evaluation
- Evaluation is the process of attaching a value to the social work practice. It is the method of knowing what the outcomes are.
- It is the continuous process
- Evaluation will further strengthen the relationship between the case worker and client and motivate the client to work towards his goal
- The purpose of evaluation is to see if the efforts of the case worker are yielding any result or not if the techniques used are serving the purpose and if the goals are being achieved
- Case work practices need to be evaluated from time to time.
- Workers have to enhance their own image and also of the agency to develop public relations
Follow up and termination
- At the end that is termination the worker should discuss the original as well as revised goal and objectives, achievements during the helping period, factors helpful or obstructive in achieving the objectives and the efforts needed to maintain the level of achievement and the feelings arose by this engagement.
- It is best to discuss termination and its implication several times before the final interview.
- The frequency and amount of contacts should be gradually decreased
- Termination of the helping process brings up in both the case worker and clients. Many feelings both positive and negative which must be verbalized and discussed.
- Follow-up is done to help client maintain the improvement
- During follow-up, the client is helped to discuss the problems he faces in maintain the improvement.
