Social work and sociology

Sociology is the study of the society. It focuses on human and interaction inter-relationship different groups, resources and development in the society. Sociology also studies different beliefs values and rules of the society. Sociology examines social problems through various sociology theories and perspective.

Social work deals with individual and social problems in reference to the theoretical knowledge of sociology and other social science. Both sociology and social work look at the society as a network of social relationship. Sociology provides scientific analyze of society and social problems whereas, social work provides most scientific and suitable means and method of help people with problems. Social work helps to understand the problem and to solve it. Sociology means understanding and classifying the problem. Sociology studies relationship and problem between people and society to maintain and established a proper relation and adjustment through the various method like case work, group work, and community organization. If sociology studies relation and problems between individuals or society, social work helps those individuals and society to maintain and establish adjustment with the help of social work intervention and methods like case work, group work, and community organization. It helps social justice and minimizes social suppression. For instance: generation gap. Here, sociology analyses the relation between teenagers with their parents, the role of modernization among teenagers, socialization and parenting process, problems faced by teenagers and parents due to a communication gap, etc. On the other hand, social worker deals with parents or teenagers as clients, who has adjustment problem in the family. Social worker, along with the client, designs intervention plan in reference to social work method.

Social work and psychology

Whereas psychology studies the interplay between people and their internal environments, like people and their internal needs or drives, motivations, conflict and cognitive and emotional processes. Various theories, methods, and techniques have been developed by psychologists to understand human behavior and for the psychological help, like developmental psychology, Freudian psychoanalytic theory, behavior modification theories (Haynes and Holmes, 1994,p.210).Psychology is defined as the study of mind, study of behavior and experiences .Psychology studies as the relation between people and their internal environment like needy motivations conflict emotional behavior. Various methods are developed to understand the behavior, human development with the understanding and knowledge of human behavior and development, social work practice to help the client system. The knowledge of psychology makes it easy for the social work to understand how the client is feeling at a certain time and how he/she perceives the problems situation .It deals with mental illness. Psychology changes in attitude and behavior and helps in adjustment and coping.

Social work and rural development

Social work, on the other hand, helps to improve the living standard of people by solving their personal of community problems .Rural development is full of social work because the social worker needs to understand the rural society, different problems that exist in the rural area and different development programs that will be helpful to develop the rural environment and resources helps the social worker to give effective services to the client. The role of rural development is to enhance the ability of communities to develop to the group and improve their quality of life by targeting financial and technical resources in the area of need. It helps by developing their rural communities and improving their quality of life.

Social work and economics

Economics is the study of how societies use scares resources to produce valuable goods and distribute them among people .In general, economics deals with production, consumption, and distribution of goods and services. Nowadays people are facing problems because needs of people are not meat because of inequality in production, consumption, and distribution of like poverty, unemployment, crime, depression, etc. Many social problems are caused due to the unstable economic system. Therefore, social worker should understand the relation and important of economic factors in the lives of peoples because an economic factor directly affects individual life in positive/negative ways.

Political science includes the study of government, policies, political parties, leadership bureaucracies legislature, judicial system political system like democratic authoritarian and totalitarian (Heineman, 1996). The social and economic status of society is directly related to the political system. The social worker has to understand the model of a political system .The power of dynamic government’s structure bureaucratese legislative and judicial system in order to help the client more effectively. It understands democracy, constitution, liberty, freedom, basic human rights, and constitutional rights. Social promote democratic spirit. It promotes individual and social responsibilities. It also promotes basic human rights. A social worker cannot ignore state policy if she/he wants to change the society. Therefore, an understanding of the political system is helpful to provide a long lasting solution to the problems of the client.

Social work and Anthropology

Social worker has to communities who have different cultural back and values based on their cultural background. Therefore social workers have to be sensitive towards the client’s problems in –relation to cultural settings. Understanding of the culture of the client helps the social worker respects others culture. Anthropology is the study of culture and human behavior. The social worker has to work with an individual, group or community who has their own behavior and values shaped by cultural background. The social worker has to be sensitive towards the client's problem or situation in relation to cultural setting. The significance of culture in personality development helps the social worker to analyze own cultural value with clients cultural value.
