Things to Remember

  • There should be good blood circulation, respiration and development of muscles in order to run for long distance.
  • One teammate passes the baton to another teammate to run.

  • This way once the baton in received from the first teammate, the second teammate completes running his determined distance to pass the baton to the third teammate; the third teammate again does the same as the second one and passes the baton to the fourth runner. The fourth runner runs and completes the running to the finish line.

Type: Short Difficulty: Easy

Show/Hide Answer
Answer: <p>Solution:</p> <p>Here, bearing from point P to B</p> <p>=360<sup>o</sup>-NPB</p> <p>=360<sup>o</sup>-90<sup>o</sup></p> <p>=270<sup>o</sup></p> <p></p>

Q6:

The diagram shows the position of X and Y. What is the bearing from point Y to X?

.

Type: Short Difficulty: Easy

Show/Hide Answer
Answer: <p>Solution,</p> <p>Here, Bearing from X to Y = NXY = 60<sup>o</sup></p> <p>NXY+XYN' = 180<sup>0 </sup>[NX||N<span style="font-size: xx-small;">'</span>Y]</p> <p>or, 60<sup>o</sup>+ XYN' = 180<sup>o</sup></p> <p>or, XYN' = 180<sup>o</sup>- 60<sup>o</sup></p> <p> XYN' =120<sup>o</sup></p> <p>Therefore bearing from Y to X = 360<sup>o</sup>-120<sup>o</sup>=240<sup>o</sup></p>

Q7:

The diagram shows the position of X and Y. What is the bearing from point Y to X?

.

Type: Short Difficulty: Easy

Show/Hide Answer
Answer: <p>Solution:</p> <p>Here, Bearing from X to Y =NXY=90<sup>o</sup></p> <p>NXY+XYN'=180<sup>0 </sup>[NX||N<sub>1</sub>Y]</p> <p>or, 90<sup>o</sup>+ XYN'=180<sup>o</sup></p> <p>or, XYN'=180<sup>o</sup>- 90<sup>o</sup></p> <p> XYN'=90<sup>o</sup></p> <p>Therefore, Bearing from Y to X=360<sup>o</sup>- XYN' = 360<sup>o</sup>- 90<sup>o</sup>=270<sup>o</sup></p>

Long Distance Running and Relay Race

Athletics

The collection of sporting event that involve running, throwing, jumping and walking is known as athletics.Walking and running is done in track, and jumping and throwing is done in the field so it is also called as track and field.

Long Distance Running

sdfs

The race that is run above 1500 meters in called long distance running. There should be good blood circulation, respiration and development of muscles in order to run for long distance.

Long distance running involves 3000 meter, 5000 meter, 10000 meter and 42.195 km (marathon race). There need to be continuous training and exercise to participate in long distance running.

Relay Race

In a way, we have played relay races as secondary games but the relay races in athletics are somewhat different from those games. In this relay, there should be a team of 4 runners only and four of them have to run and complete the determined distance. Mainly 4*100 meters relay are under the relay races. One teammate passes the baton to another teammate to run.

This way once the baton in received from the first teammate, the second teammate completes running his determined distance to pass the baton to the third teammate; the third teammate again does the same as the second one and passes the baton to the fourth runner. The fourth runner runs and completes the running to the finish line.Whichever group’s fourth runner completes first at the finish line will be the winning team. This is an interesting team event run by more than the group of four runners. This is the reason the relay events are conducted only at the end of the program.

Practice for 4*100 meter or 4*400-meter Relay

Four runners run this relay and every runner runs about 100 meters each and completes the run. The above picture shows that the first runner passes the baton to the second runner. The second runner will pass it to the third and the third will pass it to the fourth or last runner and completes by running to the finish line. Another important thing in the starting of the run. It should start with a crouch start like on a sprint and the baton should be held in the right hand.
