Health, Population and Environment

Although the health education, environment education and population education are different branches of learning but they are interrelated and interdependent. Health and population are closely related. The state of health depends on the size of population, and population requires healthy manpower. Health and population affects the environment. So, the integrated study of these subjects will be very useful.

Health education is essential to make people conscious of how to keep their health sound. Population education tells them about the consequences of population growth and gives them impetuses to keep the population on par with natural resources available in the country. Sound health and proper size of population keep healthy. Equally it is important to provide them safe and clean environment. So environment education is also important.

Need of health education

Health of an individual is a bright, but is not a natural condition. Health is a process of continuous adjustment with the changing circumstances. It depends on the way of living and it ca be changed. Everyone longs for longevity and healthy life. So people should be made aware of the importance health and health education.

3. To appreciate the aesthetic values of healthy living, including cleanliness, sanitation, exercise and balanced diet.
4. To co- operate, rather than compete, with others in the solution of health problems.
5. To find emotional satisfaction in individual relationship with the school, home and community.
6. To contribute to the maintenance and improvement of healthy of friends, neighbors, members of the family, community and nation.
7. To educate the people on various preventive measures to maintain good health.
8. To recognize the ecological health hazards.

Need of population education

To create small family by planning is one important way to overcome the consequences of rapid population growth. Population education brings changes in the behavior of people and inspires them to create small and happy family. It acts as a motivational factor which helps to develop awareness among the people to adopt small family as a means of happy life. Population education is considered as a separate discipline in the SAARC nations but in other countries it is integrated with other subjects like social, science, geography, etc. In Nepal, the population education has been implemented as a compulsory subject in lower secondary level since 2056 B.S. Nepal is also a country in Asia where population education has been taught as a compulsory subject in the school level.

Need of Environment Education

Living beings solely depend on environmental resources for their subsistence. It is quite essential relationship among the various aspects of the environment like human beings, other livings beings, social and cultural aspects.

Environment education imparts knowledge on various aspects of the environment and develops altitude of people and solve them with effective measures. To solve the environment related and save the earth as a living place for beings and other living being the need of environment education is felt.

The importance of environment education are given in the following points:

1. It imparts education on the important of different elements aspects like stone, soil, water, land, plants, animals and minerals.
2. It changes the mind of people for the wise use of these resources and their conservation.
3. It makes people aware on the consequences of environment depletion and environmental pollution.
4. It encourages people to in environment conservation programmes and change their attitude towards the sustainable development.
5. It emphasis on participation of the local, national and international agencies in environment.
