Introduction to The Earth
The earth is the common home of so many species of animals and plants that exists. It is the only living planets among the other all nine planet. The life does not exist in any other planet except in the earth. There are many living beings including the microorganism to the large animals like the blue whale. The earth is always moving. The planet earth is only a tiny part of the universe. It looks like the ball. Its structure is made of rock, soil and water.
The structure of the earth is divided into two main parts: atmosphere and geosphere. The lithosphere (main component), hydrosphere and biosphere are under geosphere. The outer part of the earth is called atmosphere. In atmosphere mostly gas exists, but traces of dust particles are also found.
The surface of the earth is covered by land. Around our place, the ridge of a mountain, steep slopes, rivers and rivulets, tanks, ponds are seen. There is water in the earth in abundance on the earth. The land topography of different parts of the earth is different. There is favorable temperature for the living beings like air, water and land on the earth. The living beings on the earth are survived due to such natural resources. If the conservation of different spheres is not made, there will be no living beings on the earth. It is the common habitat for all living beings.
To regulate the life of creatures continuously and make it durable, the earth should be looked after properly. It is the prime duty of the human beings to help in different program of conservation for the earth.
Components of caring for the Earth
The earth is made up of hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere. These three components have supported life on the earth and made it a biosphere. The conservation of all the physical and biological aspects of the earth is the concept of caring for the earth. It is imperative to implement the programs of conservation and promotion of lithosphere, atmospheres and hydrosphere to maintain the earth as a biosphere.
Caring of the earth refers to the utilization of the utilization of the natural resources in such a way that it may help preserves the living beings.
The world conservation strategy (WCS) was formulated in 1980 A. D. This strategy has explained the policies of the conservation and sustainable development of natural resources of the world. It also help to set a guideline required to carry out the development and conservation activities in an integrated way. It has and caring the earth. A strategy "Sustainable development and caring the earth" has been executed for the effective implementation of the world conservation strategy. The government, international agencies and non- governmental organization have supported the strategy of caring the earth.
The major principal of WCS is enlisted below:
- The wide gap between rich and poor should be reduced so that the environmental problems resulted by this can be reduced.
- The renewable resources should be produced more and non renewable resources should be minimized.
- Alternative sources of non - renewable resources should be sought.
- The rich nations should help to improve the living standard of the people of the poor countries.
- Human activities concerning development activities should contribute to improve the living standard.
The earth is the habitat of all living beings. For the healthy living of plants and animals caring for the earth is a must. A wise use of natural resources, minimum use of non-renewable resources, sustainable use of resources, promotion and use of renewable resources, control of environmental pollution and maintenance of the earth as a suitable habitat for living beings are known as the activities of caring for the earth.
Need for Caring for the Earth
The earth is a common habitat of all the living creatures. All the living creatures sustain their life by using the resources available on the earth. People conduct various activities on the earth to fulfill their own needs and demands. They use various natural resources such as forest, land, water etc while constructing such works.
At the same time development works pollute earth. Some effects are seen immediately whereas some are seen after certain times. The earth is the only habitat for all living beings. Its our duty and responsibility to protect our earth. Caring of earth means maintaining the existence of living beings.
Some reasons for the caring of the earth are as follows:
Conservation of the Earth:
The main objective of caring of the earth is to help the earth in a sustained way conducting different programmes. For this, conservation should be done for the natural condition of the earth, structure and other related aspect. They should be allowed to run in their natural condition. The program of caring for earth helps to achieve the goal. The conservation leads to the caring for the earth.
Conservation of natural heritage:
The internal parts of the earth are minerals, air, water, plants, land and animals. Improper use of these resources leads to the various problems such as global warming, imbalance ecosystem, climate change, scarcity of food and so on. So, conservation of these resources helps in the caring of the earth.
Conservation of the Living beings:
The earth is the habitat of mankind and other kinds of living beings. There are innumerable aquatic and terrestrial living beings on the earth. They are interrelated. The destruction of one affects the other. So, caring for the earth should be done for the conservation of living beings which protects the natural status of the earth.
Methods of Caring of the Earth
All the people in the earth should make a habit of caring for the earth. Development of such habit helps for their own existence. Some of the measures for caring for the earth are described below:
- Involvement in conservation program:By gaining the knowledge of nature and making good inquiry, we should participate in the program of caring earth. It is important for us to have knowledge about ecosystem and structure of the earth. We should participate in conservationprogramof theearth.
- Knowledge of Structure of Earth:It is essential to every people in the earth to have knowledge about structure of earth. It motivates towards the conservation of the earth.
- Nature friendly development:Many people conduct various development activities for their own sake. While conducting such activities it should not affect the nature and environment. Such changes may be detrimental to the existence of living beings.
- Respect of nature:Everyone should not try to keep nature in their own control rather they should live according to the law of nature. Nature is very important for all living creatures so we must respect them as our parents and friends. They should be conserved and protected.
- Participation in conservation program :It is the prime responsibility of the human beings to participate actively in all conservation and protection programmes. The conservation of resources is possible with the combined effort of human beings.
