Alcoholism
the alcohol consumed in distilled beverage is ethyl alchole. Ethyle alchole is colorless liquid produced from fermentation of carbohydrate by yeast. in medicine , alcohol is used as an antiseptic and a solvent .Alcoholic beverages aare of two types-
fermented – eg bear ,toddy and wins .
distilled beverages- eg Rum,whisky ,Wodka,gin and brandy etc.

Effect of alcohol
- it is analgesic ,anesthetic and sedative .alcohol reduces sugar level in the blood . The effect of alcohol on the central nervous system is as a depressant. It reduce BP by causing dilation of blood vessel. The prolonged use of alcohol produce hypertension and CHD .it stimulates acid secretion in stomach and causes gastritis and peptic ulcers , alcohol increase urine output by decreasing the secretion of" ADH" . Heavy drinks become dehydrated.

Thirst, dry tongue and hangover are associated with effect of alcohol. The main target organ of alcohol is live .in liver the alcohol changes into acetaldehyde which is utilize by the hepatic cell for energy production. Fatty acid start accumulation and fatty liver symptoms develop .the fibrous tissue makes liver in active and the cracks develop. This condition of liver is called cirrhosis it is a social evil and involves lot of expenditure. The inhibition in the society are diminished and person may start anti social activity .

Alcohol and driving do not go together as alcohol
