Trade and Export Promotion Centre is a national trade promoting organization of the country established in November 2006, as a focal point, by merging three organizations namely Trade Promotion Centre, Export Promotion Board and Carpet and wool Development Board, with the objective of promoting foreign trade in general and export trade in particular of the country. It operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies.

The main objective promoting foreign trade is general and export trade in particular of the country. It is a non-profit organization. The TEPC is conscious of the rapidly changing international trade scenario and is, therefore, engaged in launching export promotional activities. Its main aim is to prevent foreign trade and export trade. It helps to increase country’s export capacity. It also helps in the establishment of the relationship between exporter and importer.

The TEPC is conscious of the rapidly changing international trade scenario and is, therefore, engaged in launching export promotional activities and providing necessary services to the business community. It is non-profit making organization.

The functions of TEPC are as follows:

  • To provide advice to the government of Nepal in formulating policies for the development and expansion of trade and export.
  • To contribute to strengthening the national economy by developing and expanding trade and export of the country.
  • To help alleviate property through the development of rural economy by enhancing the internal and external market for agro-based and other products.
  • To conduct programs for production by establishing coordination among different agencies.
  • To assist in diversifying trade by identifying potential market for exportable products.
  • To cooperate in opening institutions for the export promotion and to diversify trade and extend support to such institutions.
  • To advocate for technical assistance for improving quality/standard of exportable products.
  • To execute programs to attract investment at the national and international level.
  • To establish information pool by collecting, disseminating and publishing useful trade-related information.
  • To identify trade-related problems with appropriate measures to solve such problems.
  • To assist in a market test of exportable products.
  • To organize buyer-seller meet and conduct training seminar and workshops.
  • To simplify procedures relating quality control, insurance, and transport and enhance support services for export transactions.
