Essay:
An essay is an exercise in composition Dr.Johnson defines an essay as a loose sally of the mind.Properly speaking,it is a written composition giving expression to one's own personal ideas or opinions on any topic.The literal meaning of essay is an abrupt.
Different parts of an essay:
Introduction: It may be a simply a sentence or a very short paragraph.It may consist of a definatiion or a quotation,proverb,very brief story direct beginning general remarks or an abrupt beginning leading upto the subject.
Body: This is the most important part of an essay because this is really the essay itself.
Conclusion: As the introduction should arouse intrest the conclusion should satisfy it.A good conclusion consist of a suitable quotation.
Characteristics of a good essay:
Unity: A good essay must have a unity, developing one subject with a definite end.
Balance: The essay should follow a certain ordered line of thought and come to a definite conclusion. If there is a distance between introduction and conclusion, the essay loses its balance.
Coherence: The idea developed in the essay should support one another logically to obtain coherence in the essay.It means one idea should lead to the next.
Length: There can be no strict rules about length which depends upon the nature of the subjects.
Style: The language and sentence should be simple direct and natural.Slang colloquial terms and free any easy should be your essay should be clear and communication.
Personal Touch: Your essay should disclose your personal feelings and opinions.It should have yours individually in it.

Planning: Planning is a discovering and collecting all the relevant information about the essay.Planning is a key activity in writing any essay because better writing results in better plans.To plan the essay effectively you should consider the following questions:

- What format should be used?
